Kimmel jokes about Zacharia's law credentials after White House 'no-talent loser' jab
Jimmy Kimmel hit back on Thursday's show at a White House statement that called him a "no-talent loser," TheWrap reported. He mocked the spokesman who issued it and joked about press secretary Katie Zacharia's law credentials, TheWrap and The Guardian reported. Zacharia was out of the job by Friday, NBC News reported.
Jimmy Kimmel used his Thursday monologue on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" to read and mock a White House statement that called him a "no-talent loser," TheWrap reported. The statement, from White House spokesman Davis Ingle, said Kimmel "has beclowned himself with tanking ratings and by spewing disgusting lies to his dwindling audience," according to Fox News Digital, which published it Thursday afternoon in response to Kimmel's earlier monologues.
Kimmel showed a photo of Ingle and joked, "in case you're wondering what a person who uses the word beclowned looks like, this is Davis Dingle," TheWrap reported. He then asked his audience what Zacharia and Pete Hegseth have in common: "Neither one of them can pass a bar," TheWrap reported.
Kimmel also said Zacharia "is an attorney in the same way George Santos was a volleyball champion," The Guardian reported. Zacharia had not said when or where she passed the bar exam, and The Wall Street Journal reported that she failed the California bar exam after law school, according to The Guardian.
The feud began earlier in the week, when Kimmel mocked Zacharia on Monday and Tuesday and called her "Malibu Katie" after her first briefing, Fox News reported. White House communications director Steven Cheung defended Zacharia as "uniquely qualified and whip-smart," according to Fox News. A White House representative did not immediately respond to TheWrap's request for comment on Thursday's monologue, TheWrap reported.
Zacharia was out as press secretary on Friday after five days on the job, NBC News reported, citing a senior administration official, an administration official and a source familiar with the decision. A senior administration official said she is moving into a new role to be announced later, NBC reported.
