Four men have been arrested in California and Georgia in connection with the February shooting of San Francisco 49ers defensive end Keion White, CBS News Bay Area and ABC News reported.

White was shot in the ankle on Feb. 9 during a private party he was hosting at the Dahlia Club in San Francisco's Mission District, after attending the Super Bowl at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, CBS News Bay Area reported.

San Francisco police announced the arrests Wednesday after a monthslong investigation called "Operation D-Line," CBS News Bay Area reported. "It started when multiple suspects, some brandishing firearms, confronted the 49ers player, which then led to a physical altercation between the group and the victim, who was shot in the leg," Police Chief Derrick Lew said at a news conference, according to CBS News Bay Area.

Atlanta police arrested Marquis Davis, 38, at his home on Oct. 7, and officers found an illegal gun and drugs, CBS News Bay Area reported. The same day, Antoine Washington, 36, was arrested in Stockton, California, and Curtis Green, 35, was taken into custody in Irvine, California. Los Angeles police arrested Gregory Walker, 36, on Oct. 9.

Walker is charged with assault with a semi-automatic firearm, with allegations that he personally fired a gun and caused great bodily injury, the outlets reported. Green faces misdemeanor gun charges, including brandishing a firearm. District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said her office would seek to keep Walker in custody without bail, CBS News Bay Area reported. Officials are working to bring Davis and Washington to San Francisco.

"Mr. Walker, and a second man who is pending charges, are alleged to have fired their guns, resulting in the injury to Mr. White," the district attorney's office said, ABC News reported.

An attorney for Davis told ABC News that "Marquis Davis is presumed innocent of all charges" and that the allegations against him "remain unproven." ABC News said it had not yet identified attorneys for the other three suspects.

White told reporters last month that he did not realize he had been shot right away, CBS News Bay Area reported. "I didn't know I got shot until like five minutes after, as I was walking around," he said.

What we know: Four men are under arrest, and two have been charged in San Francisco.
What we don't: What led to the confrontation, and what charges Davis and Washington will face there.
