Game 4 of the American League Championship Series between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Cleveland Guardians will be played Saturday at 8 p.m. ET at Progressive Field after rain postponed it Friday night, Major League Baseball said. MLB said the game was moved "due to inclement weather." Game 5 moves from Saturday to Sunday at 5 p.m. ET, the league said.

MLB announced the postponement at 9 p.m. ET, about an hour after the game was supposed to start, after rain fell throughout the day in Northeast Ohio, WKYC reported. It is the first time an ALCS game has been postponed since 2019, when the New York Yankees hosted the Houston Astros, the AP reported.

The change wipes out the teams' day off. Sunday was supposed to be a travel day before Game 6, WKYC reported. Games 6 and 7, if needed, will stay on Monday and Tuesday at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, MLB said. That means a seven-game series would be played on four straight days, WKYC and the AP reported.

Fans with tickets for Friday's game can use them for Game 5 on Sunday, when gates open at 2:30 p.m. ET, MLB said. Tickets for the original Saturday game will be good for Game 4, and those fans do not need to take any action, the league said.

Cleveland had planned a bullpen game on Friday with Shawn Armstrong as the opener, and Tampa Bay was set to start Nick Martinez, the AP reported. Guardians manager Stephen Vogt could change plans and start left-hander Foster Griffin on Saturday, the AP reported.

Cleveland leads the best-of-seven series 2-1, the AP and WKYC reported. The series winner will face the Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series, which opens Oct. 23 in Milwaukee, the AP reported. The Brewers reached the World Series by sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL Championship Series, the AP reported.

What we know: Game 4 is now Saturday at 8 p.m. ET and Game 5 is Sunday at 5 p.m. ET, both in Cleveland.
What we don't: Who will start Game 4 for either team.
