Journey drummer Deen Castronovo, 62, was taken to a hospital after a medical emergency stopped the band's concert in Tulsa after just two songs. Bandmates asked fans to pray for him. A day later, guitarist Neal Schon said Castronovo was "doing great" and would play the next show.
Journey fans got a scare in Tulsa this week, followed by good news.
Drummer Deen Castronovo, 62, was taken to a hospital Thursday after a medical emergency during the band's concert, Fox News reported. The band stopped the show at the BOK Center after just two songs.
Keyboardist Jonathan Cain apologized to the crowd and asked fans to keep Castronovo in their prayers. "We're going to see what happens as this progresses," Cain said. "It's an unfortunate situation. We're very sorry."
Video shared on X showed Castronovo being taken to a hospital after leaving the stage, FOX 5 Atlanta reported. The band did not say what caused the emergency.
The next day, guitarist Neal Schon posted an update. "Deen is doing great! He can't wait to see you in San Antonio, Texas!" he wrote, The Rock Revival reported. "Your prayers truly worked. God bless you all. We will see you tomorrow night San Antonio!"
Castronovo first joined Journey in 1998. He left in 2015 after legal trouble, then returned to the band in 2017. Besides drums, he sometimes sings lead on songs, which fans love.
Journey is one of the best-selling rock bands in history, known for hits like "Don't Stop Believin'," "Any Way You Want It" and "Separate Ways." The band has kept touring for decades with changing lineups.
Schon and Cain are the band's longest-serving current members. Lead singer Arnel Pineda joined in 2007 after Schon found him through YouTube videos.
