Recalls hit baby bath seats, dressers, mowers and race medals
Federal safety regulators announced eight product recalls on Thursday. They include baby bath seats that can tip over, dressers that can fall on children and about 42,860 trimmer mowers that can catch fire. Check your home and stop using recalled items.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced eight recalls on Thursday, Oct. 8. Several involve products used by young children. Here is what to look for, based on a roundup by the Franklin County Free Press and recall notices.
Baby bath seats: About 2,140 ONTHEWEI baby bath seats can tip over while in use, which can lead to drowning. Stop using them right away and email onthewei@outlook.com for a refund. Never leave a baby alone in a bath seat, even for a moment.
Dressers: About 12,078 Romorgniz six-drawer dressers can tip over if not anchored to a wall. Falling furniture can trap or kill children. Move them where kids cannot reach and contact Romorgniz for a refund.
Trimmer mowers: About 42,860 DR Power Pilot and Premier trimmer mowers were sold in the U.S. Grass and debris can build up inside and catch fire. Health Canada, which announced the recall jointly, said the company has had 19 reports of incidents in the U.S., two with injuries. Owners can get a free repair kit at drpower.com/recalls or 800-854-3194.
Fireplace rocks: About 100 Snow Peak propane fireplace inserts came with lava rocks that can explode when heated. Snow Peak is offering refunds or new rocks.
Race medals: About 476 Avengers Infinity Gauntlet medals from The Conqueror have strong magnets that can come loose. Swallowed magnets can cause serious internal injuries in children.
Bikes and bike locks: About 1,150 Van Rysel GRVL AF bikes from Decathlon can lose their front wheel, and REI stores will inspect and fix them. Some Giant SureLock LED-light keys have button batteries that children can reach.
What we know: Eight recalls were announced Thursday, and most offer refunds or free repairs.
What we don't: How many recalled items are still in homes.
