The New York Liberty are one loss from the end of their season as they host the Atlanta Dream in Game 3 of the WNBA semifinals on Friday night, trailing the best-of-five series 2-0. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

No team in league history has come back to win a best-of-five series after losing the first two games, CBS Sports reported, though New York already made history this postseason by becoming the first eighth seed to knock off a top seed when it beat Minnesota.

"We're not focused on winning three games," Liberty forward Breanna Stewart said. "We're focused on winning one game, and that starts on Friday."

That will not be easy, since New York has lost four straight games to Atlanta since beating the Dream on June 11, and in Game 2 on Wednesday the Dream won 101-98 in overtime even though the Liberty shot 54.7% from the field. Atlanta scored 28 points off Liberty turnovers, and through two games it has outscored New York 60-24 in points off turnovers.

Stewart was brilliant in defeat with 35 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, and rookie Marine Fauthoux added a career-high 20 points off the bench.

Game 2 ended in a dispute, because New York, trailing by three with 4.3 seconds left, did not call a reset timeout to advance the ball, and Stewart instead heaved a long shot that missed. Stewart and coach Chris DeMarco said the referees told them the team had no reset timeouts left, but the officials' pool report said otherwise, Sporting News reported.

Atlanta's health is the other big question, since guard Allisha Gray, the team's leading scorer at 19 points per game, missed Game 2 with an injury to her left shooting hand and is listed as questionable for Friday, ESPN reported. Without her on Wednesday, Angel Reese and Jordin Canada scored 23 points each.

If New York wins, Game 4 would be played Sunday afternoon in New York on ABC, and a deciding Game 5 would be played in Atlanta on Wednesday.

What we know: Atlanta leads 2-0, and Game 3 is Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
What we don't: Whether Gray plays.
