Ted Lasso Season 4 finale leaves future open, no renewal yet
Ted Lasso's fourth season ended Wednesday on Apple TV with big changes for Ted, Roy and Rebecca. Apple has not said whether there will be a fifth season. Co-creator Brendan Hunt said there is no sign yet that the show will continue.
Ted Lasso's fourth season has ended, and fans are left wondering whether there will be another. The finale is now streaming on Apple TV, but Apple has not confirmed a fifth season, The Hollywood Reporter said.
The finale brings big changes. Ted hands the job of managing the women's team to Alice Chilton, played by Tanya Reynolds, and becomes an assistant alongside Coach Beard, Variety reported. Roy accepts a job with Chelsea, and he and Keeley are expecting a baby. Rebecca proposes to Matthijs.
There is also a fight over the club. Mae's will leaves her shares to Rebecca, keeping Rebecca in control and blocking a takeover try by Zelda, Variety said.
Even the people behind the show are not sure what comes next. "There's not yet any indication that we're going to get to answer those questions," co-creator and star Brendan Hunt told Variety.
The season was a hit. It premiered in August and reached No. 1 on Apple TV within two days, Collider said. The show has spent more than 275 days in the streamer's top 10.
This season also brought a new theme song, performed by Brandi Carlile.
Jason Sudeikis, who plays Ted, has talked about a three-season arc in past interviews, The Hollywood Reporter noted. That leaves the door open for a new chapter, but nothing is set.
What we know: The Season 4 finale is streaming on Apple TV, and Apple has not announced a renewal.
What we don't: Whether Apple and the cast will return for a fifth season.
Where outlets agree Variety and The Hollywood Reporter both report the Season 4 finale is out and a fifth season has not been confirmed.
Where they differ Variety names the finale "The Departing Lass," while The Hollywood Reporter calls it "Being Alive."
