Dollar Tree recalls 360,500 electric balloon pumps that can overheat
Dollar Tree is recalling about 360,500 pink electric balloon pumps because they can overheat and burn users, safety regulators say. One pump caught fire inside and another exploded, but no one was hurt. Regulators also recalled HomeGoods floor lamps and adult bed rails sold on Amazon.
If you're blowing up balloons for a Halloween party, check your pump first.
Dollar Tree is recalling about 360,500 electric balloon pumps because they can overheat, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said. The pumps are pink plastic with a blue handle and two nozzles. Look for model number 406198 on the silver label on the bottom and on the box. They sold for about $17 at Dollar Tree stores, on dollartree.com and on DoorDash from August 2025 through July 2026, KIRO 7 reported.
Dollar Tree has received three reports of overheating, including one of flames inside a pump and one of a pump exploding. No injuries have been reported. Stop using the pump and return it to any Dollar Tree store for a full refund. If you bought it online, the company will send a prepaid return label. Call 877-530-8733 or visit dollartree.com and click "Recall Information."
The CPSC announced several other home recalls the same day:
Cupcakes and Cashmere floor lamps: About 4,200 three-light floor lamps sold at HomeGoods from June 2025 through July 2026 for $79 to $89. The cord or wiring can smoke, spark or catch fire. The company has 11 reports, including two shock and burn injuries. Look for model 7927-OZ or 7927-OZ1 under the base. Unplug the lamp, cut the cord and send a photo to Designs Direct for a refund.
Adult bed rails: Agrish expanded a recall to about 35,083 portable bed rails, models 12014, AG-12011 and 12016, sold on Amazon for $50 to $80. A person can get trapped in the rail or between the rail and the mattress, which can cause death by suffocation. Separately, about 730 LandTale bed rails sold on Amazon for about $43 were recalled for the same risk.
In each case, stop using the product and contact the company for a refund. You can search all recalls at cpsc.gov.
What we know: These products are recalled, and refunds are available.
What we don't: How many recalled pumps and bed rails are still in use.
Where outlets agree The CPSC and KIRO 7 both report that about 360,500 Dollar Tree balloon pumps, model 406198, were recalled because they can overheat and cause burns.
Where they differ The CPSC lists reports of a fire inside one pump and another exploding, while no injuries have been reported, so the real-world risk is still unclear.
