Apple's October is filling up fast. The company is now accepting App Store submissions for apps built for the iPhone Duo, its first folding iPhone, which reaches buyers Friday, Oct. 23.

Developers rebuild their apps with Apple's Xcode 27.1 tools, which add Duo support, Apple said in a developer notice. A tool called Device Hub shows how an app looks on the Duo in every position. Starting in April 2027, every new app or update must include Duo screenshots.

Getting in early matters. AppleInsider noted that App Store review is not always fast, and there may never again be as much attention on Duo apps as on day one.

For shoppers, the steps are set. Starting Monday, Oct. 12, buyers can use Apple's "Get Ready" feature in the Apple Store app or online to choose color, storage, carrier, payment and more ahead of time, 9to5Mac reported. That is not a reservation. Pre-orders open Friday, Oct. 16, at 8 a.m. ET.

Apple introduced the Duo at its Sept. 9 event.

Next up may be the home. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported that Apple plans an event on Tuesday, Oct. 13, MacRumors said. Apple is expected to show a smart home hub, a new HomePod mini and a new Apple TV 4K. The hub reportedly has a square 6-inch screen, works on a counter or a wall, and has a FaceTime camera. The HomePod mini and Apple TV are said to keep their current looks but get faster chips for Siri's new AI features.

Apple has not announced the event itself. MacRumors also reported Monday that Apple plans more launches in the last week of October. It does not know which products, but thinks new Macs are most likely. Apple has already said a high-end Mac Studio with an M5 Ultra chip will ship in "late October." A new iPad mini with an OLED screen is also expected this month, with timing unclear.

What we know: Duo apps can be submitted now, pre-order prep starts Oct. 12, and the phone ships Oct. 23.
What we don't: Whether Apple will stage a live event on Oct. 13 or simply post announcements.
