Walmart recalls 4.4 million grill brushes over loose wire bristles
Walmart is recalling about 4.48 million Expert Grill wire-bristle brushes because bristles can break off, stick to food and be swallowed. The brushes sold from January 2021 through August 2026 for $1 to $28. Owners should stop using them and contact Walmart for a refund or store credit.
Walmart is recalling about 4.48 million Expert Grill wire grill brushes, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Oct. 1. Metal bristles can come loose, end up on grilled food and be swallowed. No injuries have been reported, the agency says.
The brushes, made in China, sold at Walmart stores and online from January 2021 through August 2026 for about $1 to $28.
Here's how to check yours. The recall covers model numbers EX5607031616002, EX5607031616003, XG1310700206, XG1136178597003 and XG1410700124.
What to do: Stop using the brush right away and contact Walmart for a refund or store credit at 800-925-6278.
Grilling season may be winding down in much of the country. But many people grill year-round, and a swallowed wire bristle can lodge in the throat or gut. That is why it's worth checking now, before the brush comes back out in spring.
A second CPSC recall announced the same day carries a more serious danger: Agrish is recalling about 35,083 adult portable bed rails sold on Amazon. That total includes about 5,000 rails first recalled in January, and the rails sold from April 2025 through May 2026 for $50 to $80.
The CPSC says the Agrish rails break a mandatory federal safety standard. People can become trapped between the rail and the mattress, which can lead to serious injury or death by suffocation. The company has received one report of a fall, and the recalled models are 12014, AG-12011 and 12016.
Families caring for an older adult at home should check their bed rails today. Stop using the recalled rails and contact Agrish about the remedy.
Some background helps. The CPSC is the federal agency that tracks unsafe household products. Recalls only work if owners hear about them, and the agency lists every recall at cpsc.gov.
What we know: About 4.48 million Expert Grill brushes and about 35,083 Agrish bed rails are recalled.
What we don't: How many of the recalled brushes are still in use.
Where outlets agree The CPSC and USA Today both report Walmart is recalling about 4.48 million Expert Grill brushes sold from January 2021 through August 2026, with no injuries reported.
Where they differ No injuries are tied to the grill brushes, but neither the CPSC nor Walmart has said how many of the millions sold are still in kitchens and backyards.
