A listeria recall of a Walmart frozen pasta now covers every bag. Gias Foods of New York City expanded its recall of bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine to all lot codes and all dates, the Miami Herald reported. Bettergoods is a Walmart store brand.

Here's how to spot it. Look for a 22-ounce bag with UPC number 194346442706. Return it to Walmart for a refund, or throw it out. No illnesses have been reported.

The first recall, in September, covered only two lots, L6079C and L6080C, with expiration dates of Sept. 19 and Sept. 20, 2027, Consumer Reports said. Routine testing by state agriculture officials in Florida and Washington found listeria in finished product. The company's newest notice does not say why it widened the recall.

Don't count on the freezer. Freezing does not kill listeria, Consumer Reports warns, so a bag that has sat frozen for weeks is still a risk.

Some background on the germ. The CDC estimates about 1,250 people get sick from listeria in the U.S. each year, and about 172 die, the Herald noted. Symptoms usually show up within two weeks of eating tainted food. They can include high fever, headache, stiffness and a general flu-like feeling, the Herald noted.

The danger is higher for some. In older adults, people with weak immune systems and babies, the infection can spread past the gut to the brain and spinal cord. In pregnancy, it can cause miscarriage, stillbirth or serious illness in a newborn, even when the mother feels fine.

If you ate the pasta and feel sick, call a doctor and mention the recall. Tell them if you are pregnant.

What we know: Every 22-ounce bag of the bettergoods lemon alfredo with UPC 194346442706 is recalled.
What we don't: How the listeria got into the product, and why the recall grew from two lots to all of them.
