A new round of company report cards begins this week, and the first names on the list touch everyday spending. Constellation Brands, which sells Corona and Modelo beer in the U.S., reports results Tuesday after the stock market closes. PepsiCo follows Thursday at 6 a.m. ET, with a call for investors at 8:15 a.m., the company said. Delta Air Lines reports Friday before the market opens, according to earnings calendars.

Each company offers a different window into the economy.

PepsiCo sells drinks and snacks such as Doritos, Lay's and Gatorade. It has raised prices in recent years to cover higher costs, and some shoppers have pushed back by buying cheaper store brands. Investors will look at whether people are buying fewer bags and bottles.

Constellation's beer brands are popular with Hispanic customers, and the company has warned before that immigration crackdowns and economic worries could weigh on sales. Its results will show how those pressures are playing out.

Delta is the big test for travel. Jet fuel is one of an airline's largest costs, and fuel prices have soared during the war with Iran. Domestic holiday airfares are running about 31% higher than last year, according to data cited by USA Today. Investors will listen for Delta's view of demand for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Some background: Earnings season comes four times a year. Big banks usually report the following week, and large tech companies report later in October. Results and forecasts often move stock prices more than economic data.

This season comes with high interest rates, oil near $100 a barrel and a slowing job market. That mix makes company forecasts especially important.

What we know: Constellation reports Tuesday, PepsiCo Thursday, and Delta Friday.
What we don't: How much high prices and fuel costs have hurt sales and profits.
