The Chicago White Sox are sticking with what worked. After a 3-0 shutout in Game 1, they plan to open Game 2 of the American League Division Series with left-hander Anthony Kay and then hand the ball to Sean Burke for a longer stretch, Sports Illustrated and The Globe and Mail reported. First pitch at Cleveland's Progressive Field is 5 p.m. ET Monday on TBS and truTV.

Cleveland will counter with Gavin Williams, its hard-throwing right-hander, according to MLB.com. The Guardians need a win to avoid heading to Chicago down 2-0.

Game 1 belonged to Chicago. Munetaka Murakami hit a 440-foot two-run homer in the fourth inning, and Colson Montgomery added an RBI double. Five White Sox pitchers combined on a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts. Grant Taylor worked four innings for the save, the first four-inning postseason save since Lance McCullers Jr. in 2017.

Cleveland's hitters got on base but failed to score. They loaded the bases twice in the early innings and came away empty. Manager Stephen Vogt said his team fought but could not finish.

Here is some background. The Guardians won the AL Central by one game over the White Sox, then earned a first-round bye. Chicago swept Houston in the Wild Card round and has won nine of its last 11 games. Murakami, who came over from Japan this year, has been one of the biggest stories of the season.

A 2-0 lead would put Chicago one win from its first AL Championship Series since 2005, when it won the World Series.

Fans can stream the game on HBO Max as well as watch on TBS and truTV.

What we know: Kay opens for Chicago, Williams starts for Cleveland, and the game is at 5 p.m. ET.
What we don't: How deep Chicago's bullpen can go after another long night.
