Nvidia adds 64GB DGX Spark local AI box from $4,999
Nvidia is launching a 64 GB DGX Spark configuration starting at about $4,999 for local AI builders squeezed by memory prices. Hobbyists and small labs get a cheaper entry than 128 GB systems now listing near $7,000–$9,000. Partner boxes from Acer, Asus, Dell, and others are due Oct. 23.
Nvidia is introducing a 64 GB version of its DGX Spark / GB10 local-AI desktop to cut the entry price amid soaring RAM costs, Tom’s Hardware reported Oct. 2. Partner systems from Acer, Asus, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, and MSI are slated to start at $4,999 when they launch Oct. 23. That is still expensive for a living-room box, but it undercuts 128 GB GB10 systems that now list roughly $7,000–$9,000 when stock can be found.
The stake is who can run useful models at home or in a small lab without waiting on cloud queues. Dense models that once seemed to need 128 GB can now fit in far less memory for many inference jobs, Tom’s Hardware noted, so permanently pairing the Superchip with costly LPDDR5X became a barrier. The 64 GB Spark keeps the same ConnectX-7 RDMA NIC, 20-core Arm CPU complex, and 273 GB/s shared memory bandwidth as the bigger sibling, and Nvidia’s Sync Cluster Assistant aims to make linking Sparks easier when users outgrow one box.
The timing lands beside OpenAI’s Jalapeño ASIC deployment headlines and Nvidia’s own Blackwell pitch for GPT-6 Astra Ultrafast — a reminder that Nvidia is defending both the cloud GPU cash cow and the local-AI desk. Backstory: DGX Spark launched as a high-memory local AI appliance; this SKU answers the “RAMpocalypse” more than it invents a new architecture. What we know:
A 64 GB Spark SKU starts near $4,999; partner ship date is Oct. 23; clustering NIC and CPU complex carry over from 128 GB units.
What we don’t:
How long the $4,999 street price holds as memory costs move; whether Mac mini and used 128 GB stock undercut the new SKU in practice.
Agree (full): Tom’s Hardware and Nvidia’s product framing agree a lower-memory DGX Spark configuration is being added for local AI buyers.
Differ (full): Nvidia frames relief amid RAM shortages; forum and retail chatter debate whether $4,999 is a deal versus Mac mini options and leftover 128 GB listings.
Where outlets agree Tom’s Hardware and Nvidia’s product framing agree a 64 GB DGX Spark configuration is being introduced at a lower entry price for local AI systems.
Where they differ Nvidia frames the SKU as relief amid RAM shortages while buyers debate whether $4,999 is a deal versus Mac mini options and lingering 128 GB retail stock.
