Netflix’s October horror wave opened with a large Oct. 1 catalog dump — roughly two dozen titles in one day, iHorror reported, with a few more trickling in over the following weeks. Headliners include Evil Dead (2013), The Strangers, Friday the 13th, Hush, Split, The Menu, The Sixth Sense, and Red Dragon. Lake Placid, both Ouija films, Happy Death Day 2U, and all five Twilight movies also landed in the same batch.

The quieter surprise is a full theatrical Psycho run: Hitchcock’s 1960 original plus Psycho II and Psycho III. The sequels surface on streaming less often than the original. Anthony Perkins directed Psycho III himself in 1986, a rare franchise case where the actor playing Norman Bates also chose the camera’s angle.

Netflix originals are thinner this month. Below, a six-episode limited series created by Jesse McKeown, premieres Oct. 8 with Josh Hartnett, Mackenzie Davis, and Charlie Heaton in a remote Newfoundland town facing something large in the water. Animated Haunted Hotel returns for a second season on Oct. 9. The Boogeyman and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies follow in the first week; Cocaine Bear is listed for Oct. 14.

Outlets tracking the schedule do not fully agree on whether Pride and Prejudice and Zombies lands Oct. 5 or Oct. 6, and titles can still be added. Treat the Oct. 1 wave as firm and the edges as provisional. Licensed titles also leave as quietly as they arrive, so parental controls matter on shared household profiles when jump-scare artwork sits next to kids’ rows.

What we know:
Netflix staged a large Oct. 1 horror catalog drop that includes Evil Dead and three Psycho films; Below premieres Oct. 8.

What we don’t:
Exact mid-month add/drop dates for every licensed title, and how long the Psycho sequels remain available.
