Dodgers, Rays and White Sox lead; one game still on
The Dodgers beat the Braves 5–3, the Rays beat the Yankees 1–0, and the White Sox beat the Guardians 3–0 on Saturday, ESPN, Yahoo Sports, and CBS Sports report. ESPN’s boxes have each club leading its series 1–0, with San Diego-Milwaukee still live on FS1. Drew Rasmussen struck out 10; New York managed one hit, and Aaron Judge remains off the roster.
Saturday night left three Division Series Game 1s final and one still going. The Dodgers beat the Braves 5-3 at Dodger Stadium, the Rays beat the Yankees 1-0 at Tropicana Field, and the White Sox won 3–0 earlier (ESPN’s box: Chicago leads 1–0). San Diego and Milwaukee were tied 2-2 in the third on FS1.
Tarik Skubal threw six innings, allowed one earned run and two hits, and struck out seven. The Associated Press put first pitch at 100 degrees, with a feels-like 105. Teoscar Hernández hit a two-run homer in the fourth, Kyle Tucker and Max Muncy homered in the sixth, and Ozzie Albies hit a two-run homer in the ninth before Evan Phillips got the save. ESPN and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution listed the crowd at 50,194, and MLB.com set Game 2 for Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on FS1 at Dodger Stadium.
Jonathan Aranda’s solo homer off Gerrit Cole in the third was the only Rays run, and Drew Rasmussen struck out 10 in eight innings while carrying a no-hitter to two outs in the eighth. Austin Wells doubled, ran through a stop sign, and was thrown out at third, and Bryan Baker pitched a perfect ninth, striking out Giancarlo Stanton and Ben Rice before Cody Bellinger grounded out. ESPN and MLB.com listed the crowd at 40,542. Aaron Judge remains off New York’s roster with a right calf strain, and Game 2 is Monday at 8 p.m. ET on TBS at Tropicana Field.
Munetaka Murakami’s two-run homer in the fourth at Progressive Field, after a Miguel Vargas single, anchors the White Sox lead. ESPN’s box shows three Guardians hits, and Game 2 is Monday at 5 p.m. ET on TBS.
ESPN and Yahoo Sports had the Padres and Brewers tied 2-2 in the third at American Family Field, still live on FS1, so refresh a tracker. These rounds are best of five. Los Angeles used a bye, Atlanta had just used top starters in a wild-card series, and the Trop hosted its first postseason game since a 2024 roof collapse sent the Rays to Steinbrenner Field for 2025.
ESPN, citing the Associated Press, called this Tampa Bay’s first postseason win since the 2020 World Series, while MLB.com called it the club’s first playoff win since Game 1 of the 2021 ALDS.
