Minecraft is getting its first new dimension in more than 14 years: The Sift, confirmed at Minecraft LIVE and previewed inside Minecraft Dungeons II before a planned 2027 arrival in Java and Bedrock.

Xbox Wire reported that players can enter The Sift when Dungeons II launches Sept. 29 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, Steam, and Game Pass. Mojang said the dimension will then come to core Minecraft in 2027 — the first full new realm since the Nether and End defined the game's otherworld map. Engadget and Dot Esports describe new biomes such as the Meadows and the Carapace, plus shifting-tide rules, hazardous blocks, and mobs unique to the realm. Mojang is still holding back access details and which Dungeons II creatures will transfer to vanilla.

Weekend search spikes tracked the name "The Sift" as community rumor energy flipped into an official ship note. That matters for players who treat patch notes and LIVE showcases as the confirmation bar — not Discord leaks. Dungeons II is the near-term playable preview; the survival-crafting version remains a 2027 promise with future LIVE events expected to fill in portals, progression, and survival rules.

Watch Dungeons II launch-day coverage for biome and mob reveals, then future Minecraft LIVE events for Java/Bedrock timing. Official Minecraft.net and Xbox Wire posts remain the authoritative trackers until Mojang publishes a dated vanilla roadmap.

Accounts agree The Sift is real, debuts in Dungeons II on Sept. 29, and is slated for Minecraft in 2027. They differ on how much of the Dungeons II bestiary and traversal rules will survive the jump to Java and Bedrock.
