Sony Interactive Entertainment used its September 3, 2026, State of Play to show two limited-edition DualSense wireless controllers built around Grand Theft Auto VI. The Black Limited Edition leans into Vice City nightlife; the White Limited Edition reads as daybreak sands and pastel skies. Both pads carry a color-shifting finish, palm-tree details molded into the shell, and official GTA VI branding. Recommended retail is $84.99 in the U.S. (£74.99 / €84.99 elsewhere). Shipments start November 19 — the same day Rockstar’s game launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Pre-orders opened September 10 at 10 a.m. local time (10 a.m. ET in the U.S.) through PlayStation Direct and participating retailers. Sony’s own blog set the channel split clearly: the white pad is sold at Direct and other stores; the black pad is a Direct exclusive where that storefront exists. IGN’s State of Play clip framed the same reveal as Vice City “style and luxury,” with shimmering finish and textured palm-leaf detailing.

That first sell-through window turned into the weekend hardware story. TechRadar’s live stock desk tracked U.S. and U.K. listings as white units vanished from Best Buy, Target, and most U.K. retailers within hours, while Direct queues stretched past an hour. Beebom reported eBay flip listings the next day near $140–$150 for black and around $200 for white — roughly double Sony’s MSRP — even though the controllers do not ship until mid-November. Similar limited DualSense drops (including Marvel’s Wolverine) had already shown the same reseller pattern.

Sony is also pitching DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers as part of how GTA VI “plays best” on PS5: vibration that responds to action and environment, plus trigger resistance tied to in-game force. Those features are controller-side and do not change the fact that the game launches day-and-date on Xbox; they do explain why a Vice City–skinned pad sits at the center of PlayStation’s pre-launch marketing.

For shoppers still hunting stock, Direct remains the only channel for the black edition, while white restocks can appear at Amazon, Walmart, GameStop, and regional electronics chains. TechRadar and retailer pages are the practical watch — not rumor threads — until Sony or Rockstar posts a new official hardware note.
