Carla Jeffery remembrance searches top Trends
Disney Zombies star Carla Jeffery died Sept. 1 at 33. Nearly four weeks later, weekend remembrance searches still lead entertainment Trends as cast tributes circulate and no cause is public.
Nearly four weeks after her death, Carla Jeffery still led weekend entertainment remembrance searches on Sunday. The Disney Channel actress best known as cheerleader Bree in the Zombies films died Sept. 1 at age 33. Her management firm announced the news the next day. No cause of death has been released.
Alexanders Talent Management, which represented Jeffery for more than 20 years, posted the confirmation on her Instagram. Manager Carla Alexander called her a "beautiful, vibrant, and incredibly talented woman" whose smile could light up a room, and asked the public to respect her family's privacy. Disney Entertainment Television issued its own condolences, praising her warmth and the joy her performances brought to fans and castmates.
Jeffery was born in Houston on July 10, 1993. She started acting as a child and appeared in the 2006 film Phat Girlz around age 12. She later recurred as Keysha Black across about 10 episodes of HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm and guested on shows including iCarly, Good Luck Charlie, Shake It Up, Southland, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and American Vandal. Her twin brother, actor Carlon Jeffery, also worked on Disney Channel, including A.N.T. Farm.
Her signature role arrived in 2018's Zombies, where she played Addison's best friend Bree. She returned for Zombies 2 in 2020 and Zombies 3 in 2022, then voiced Bree again in the 2024 animated series Zombies: The Re-Animated Series.
Castmates kept tributes circulating after the announcement. Meg Donnelly, who played Addison, wrote that Jeffery was "truly one of a kind" and signed off "Addi & Bree forever." Milo Manheim called her "the sweetest, kindest, most loving person." Chandler Kinney said the news "doesn't feel real" and tied Jeffery's real-life positivity to Bree. Trevor Tordjman and Kylee Russell also posted remembrances of her energy and kindness.
People and Variety agree on the confirmed public record: Jeffery died Sept. 1 at 33, her agency confirmed it without a cause, and her Zombies career anchors the remembrances. Billboard's cast-tribute roundup and those desks still differ on emphasis — how much weight to give co-star social posts versus the career timeline, and how to handle the still-unreleased cause while privacy requests stand. The Sunday beat remains remembrance grounded in named obituaries, not rumor.
